FAQs #3

I just want to ask a question regarding the contest.
Can we use any kind of paper as long as it is A3 in size?
- Yes, you can.

How many A3 sheets do you expect for submission? Is it better to
compress the information into a few sheets or to splurge on
presentation which would take up more?
- submission requirement is 4 sheets of A3 including the cost estimate. You also have to submit 3 sets of these 4 sheets.

is the 20-30 sq. meter is the total floor area of the project? or it is only a building footprint?
ung 20-30 sq. m. lot po ba un? o floor area?
- It is the building footprint. Floor area ranges from 20sqm up to 30 sqm.
- FLOOR AREA ranges from 20sqm up to 30sqm only.

FAQs

***How we will submit the registration form? Is it via e-mail or we will be submitting it to the competition secretariat personally?

- you can submit your registration thru e-mail by scanning the filled-up registration form and the deposit slip for the registration fee. Or you can send them by mail to the competition secretariat. Attach a copy of your registration form in your submission of entries.

***If we are joining as a team, do each member has individual registration form? If not, on what part of registration form we will be writing the names of the group member? And, do we still need to provider personal information on each team member?

- for team entry, you can write the personal information of the team leader only and the names of the members can be written at the lower portion of the registration form. Or, you can have all the members each fill up a registration form and indicate on the upper part if team leader or team member and submit together in one group or file.

***i would like to ask if student categories should also provide cost estimate? and another thing is how should we submit the registration requirements?

-yes, student entries should also provide cost estimate. For registration requirements pls. refer to competition manual we sent you or in this blog.

***Can we use cadd for the final drawing to be submitted as our entry or it is required to draft it manually?

Yes, you can use cadd for the entries.

***what are the requirements? (is it Architectural drawings only?, detailed structural drawings? concepts?what specific drawing reqt's?)

should we include the bamboo in the estimates?

Yes, bamboo should be included in the estimates.

***i wolud like to ask if the registration form was different from the submission form, if it is.. can you pls email to us a copy of the submission form.

***I'm a licensed architect who is currently working abroad and I'm very much interested in bahay pinoy competition. Moreover, i would like to know if my status is qualified to join the said competition,

Yes, as long as you are an IAPOA member.

FAQs

** how can we register to the contest as a group? do a group is considered to be as one entry and will only pay the required registration fee or each member of the group must pay the required fee?
List down the names of the group members in the registration form and identify the team leader. One group is one entry and you have to pay only one entry fee.

**Me and my friends are interested in joining the competition, category 2 (we're graduating students ^^). How many people in a group is allowed?
- is the competition open for group/team?if yes, how many members per team are allowed?
- can the team/group can be composed of both graduate and student/s?
The competition is open for group/team, number of participants is unlimited. Team/group can be composed of both graduates and students.

** I am a student of Bicol University Department of Architecture and i would l=
ike to ask you very important questions about the "Bahay Pinoy Design Compe=
tition" in behalf of my team mates and our mentor, since this is our first =
time to join in this type of competition. My queries are as follows:

1. Is there a maximum number of students in a group?
No maximum number of members in a group.

2. How can we register in the competition? The web shows no account name an=
d number.

3. Are we about to pass our plans at Jan.20,2009 or at March 5, 2009
January 20, 2009 is the deadline for registration (you must register on or before January 20, 2009) and on March 12 is the deadline for the submission of plans. See revised competition timetable.

** i would like to ask if we can use any other building materials like concrete or steel for our proposed bamboo house? we will use it for some stability purposes. but are major materials will be bamboo of course.
- There are a few of us who're interested in entering the competition (category II, we're studs) Just curious, since bamboo is the major building material to be used for the design, are other materials such as thatch allowed in the competition too? (for roofing, etc.) Will other organic materials be allowed?
Yes, you can use any building materials as long as the major materials are bamboo.

** It is good to know that we, the students have been given a chance to participate in this kind of project. But I would like to ask though, what do you mean exactly by "Deadline for submission of questions"?

Deadine for submission of Questions is the last day we will accept queries/questions from interested participants.
